Based on what you both said, I have it set to 720P and 1080i only. Since SD is 4:3 and not 16:9 you get the bars, as Scooby indicated you can zoom to eliminate them, but the originating source isn't always HD. A 720p HD TV would then downscale this resolution to fit, while a 1080p TV set would be able to handle it natively. *end rant* Sorry for the rant – just my 2 cents. I can't seem to find anywhere in the manual where it says that it will upconvert 720p broadcasts into 1080i.

This means that they should be able to display the full detail of 720p material" Is this just marketing speak or are DLP tv's starting to come with a 720 native resolution, rather than 768 or 788 that was previously mentioned? Given that the Toshiba converts everything to 1080i anyway, I'm surprised at these results. You still get flicker with 1080i due to the fact it is interlaced. If you select 1080i, the TV does the conversion. that leaves you with the choice between 1080i and 720p, & its easy. anthony, Iowa U.S.A Post Number: 1Registered: Dec-05 Posted on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 - 01:51 GMTi have an xbox 360 and a high def. Oppo. Thats not to say that a PlayStation 4 or Netflix wont work on a 720p set - you just wont be able to get the absolute best performance. Jaybo, for example, is completely happy with his purchase.
